What Is Roman Style Pizza?
Also known as Pizza al Taglio, Roman pizza is unique from other pizza styles in several ways. Roman pizza is baked in large rectangular sheet trays in an electric oven, which yields a crisp, airy, golden crust. The crust is about half an inch thick with a texture somewhere between a traditional hand-tossed pizza crust and focaccia bread. The sturdier crust allows for heavier toppings than you find on a thinner pizza, and Roman pizza al taglia is used as a platform for some of the best cheese, meat and seafood in the world to shine. King Coil’s pizza is no exception, with our pies featuring the best meat and produce the upper midwest has to offer. Our pepperoni and house made fennel sausage are made from Hidden Stream Farm pork, and the staff favorite “Lake Monster” pie has smoked Great Lakes Whitefish and fresh local arugula and dill.
